John & Dorcas Milner would like to welcome you all to The Gables Hotel & Restaurant's web site, and hope that you will book in with us either for a nights entertainment, bed and breakfast, or maybe a pleasant evening meal. Then again you could just pop in for a drink with some really good company.

The gables has wheelchair access for diners, but is not suitable for wheelchair bound, bed and breakfast clients.

John and Dorcas Milner have been the owners of The Gables Hotel & Restaurant, Durham, for the past 30 years, and have lived in the village of Haswell Plough for the past 45 years.

Sometimes John plays at online casinos; he can recommend non gamstop sites to his guests for a long and safe game.

The Gables is a small family run hotel, which has a very good reputation for its fine English foods, and has been recommended by the AA and Les Routiers.
The restaurant is small but quaint and cosy. Mine host John can also provide after dinner songs and poetry if required.

How to find us......
The Gables is on the B1283 road approximately 5 miles east of Durham City and 2 miles west of the main Peterlee A19 trunk road roundabout.

Durham is one of the worlds most famous and historic cities. The Cathedral and Castle date back to the 9th Century and are very beautiful.
One of Englands most famous open air museums, Beamish, is only a half hours drive, and is a must for anyone visiting the North East of England.

If you prefer shopping, we have Europes largest shopping centres, The Metro Centre Gateshead, and Eldon Square in Newcastle. We also have some excellent Nightclubs in Newcastle and Stockton.
These are just some of the most well known attractions in the area.

If you enjoy football, we have three Premier teams all within a half hours drive. St. James Park, home of Newcastle United, the Stadium of Light, home of Sunderland A.F.C. and the B.T. Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough Football Club.
